Event One
Our first job was to split up into three groups. Each went after different artifacts. The first few missions went off without a hitch but the last resulted in the theft of an artifact by a freelance competitor at knife point. That haunting had been a card game. The impostor posed as a player in the game but was in fact not a part of the haunting at all.
Combat Group:
PERIHELION traces a translocal fervid KNOT effect of Ignominy/Aggression. BETEL has scouted the most accessible frame and empathized meme fragments from a truncated Klein noology that confirm its vehemence.Forcible deconstruction of the noology is recommended for retrieval.
BETEL's interpretation of fragments has extracted enough detail for Archives to triangulate the Hylean spatial origin to a fitness studio at 653 Summer St, Boston, MA 02210. The Ignominy/Aggression inception is expected to respond best to demolition, though fragmentation suggests multiple layers of protectory ideation that must be mollified before attempting a final incursion.
This haunting took place in a fitness studio's gym. It was based off of a standoffish dancer who distanced himself from others. Before a recital, he hurt himself, and no one would help him at first due to his actions against the rest of the team.
JAAs were lead by Riker to Boston Athletics where they opened a portal to the KNOT. In the KNOT, there is a moat that divides the gym. The primary mainfestation of the haunting was on the other side of the moat. Minor manifestations with ribbons crossed the moat to attack the JAAs. Each of these manifestations was observed to dance and were dressed as dancers. Associates needed to match their dance moves to distract them and remove their ribbons, which caused the manifestations to screech in pain. When they defeated the "fragments", they gained a scooterboard that allowed them to cross the moat one at a time.
The primary manifestation was covered in glowing objects that needed to be removed in order to damage it. Dancing at him caused a distraction allowing these to be removed.
Puzzle Group:
PERIHELION traces a compressed timescale KNOT effect of Trepidation/Isolation/Imprisonment. Gentle deconstruction of the noology is recommended for retrieval. BETEL determines layers of logical misdirection which must be resolved before advancing towards the noology’s quintessence. Associates should treat logical anomalies before attempting to address emotional cores, as further tightening of it in response to mishandling could cause a localized phase shift in the surrounding metamaterial. Both physical and contextual manipulation of the noology is recommended.
This team of JAAs was lead by Langston. Before entering the KNOT the team was given a puzzle box containing a USB drive detailing information about the occupant of the apartment, a bookworm who had shut herself inside and longed to leave the house. After entering the KNOT, the team found themselves inside her apartment, where the primary manifestation had locked herself in awaiting the delivery of a specific book by a Librarian who stood guarding the bookshelf. She wouldn't talk about the book and he would only let the team take out one book at a time to check. Eventually it is revealed that she's embarrassed because the book is Twilight.
Understandable.
It was also revealed that she was dating the librarian. There were clues hidden around the apartment which Langston's glasses helped identify: A cryptex containing the keys required to leave the apartment, a puzzle box containing half the solution to the cryptex and a hollow book in the custody of the librarian containing the other half of the solution. When the correct book was brought to the occupant of the apartment, the manifestation allowed us into her room. When all the keys were brought to her room, she began to make excuses for not wanting to leave. The librarian became aggressive and threatening, forcing everyone to be seated and answer questions. Anyone who got the questions right could leave. Once everyone left, the librarian and the occupant spoke, and then the occupant was free to leave. She thanked the team, took a breath of fresh air and vanished. The team exited the KNOT and retrieved the haunting.
Roleplay Group:
PERIHELION traces a complex translocal KNOT effect of unknown quintessence. BETEL has scouted the most accessible frame and empathized meme fragments from a truncated Klein noology that confirm its vehemence. Gentle deconstruction of the noology is recommended for retrieval.
BETEL has sorted fragments into the following personality matrices all present in the noology:
owner, detached, friendly
stoic guard
aggressive, overconfident
mediated, careful thinker
flippant, but silent
The source of the noology can be traced to an anxious originator, though the final noology’s quintessence may not relate to that anxiety. Finally, BETEL has determined the fragments are engaged in a card game. Associates should deconstruct the inception with these frames in mind.
This team was lead by Asa, who carried a bell that could pause the haunting in progress. It took place in an apartment where the owner's friend, Jake, was participating in a high stakes poker game in order to win back money he needed to get out of debt. Bill, the host was laid back and friendly, Tiny the guard was mostly quiet as he watched the game, Tek had an aggressive strategy, Star was cautious and the JAAs had to fill in for Mouse, who was reserved but independently wealthy and didn't feel much pressure to win. We had to figure out everyone's names and where to sit, then try and figure out how to get Jake to win the pot in 2 rounds. If the game went longer than 2 rounds without Jake getting the entire pot and cleaning everyone out - meaning that all players had to go all in - the haunting would reset. As we were solving the haunting by convincing Star to go all in, Tiny left the room. It was weird but we didn't think about it. However, when Charlotte left the KNOT to retrieve the artifact she was held up at gunpoint - apparently Tiny was a rogue agent all along and not a manifestation at all. He was later identified as Danny Ocean.
